I have just built a 4.6 D.O.H.C. out of a lincoln and put it in a 98 Stang . I built the engine Real tight and it runs great . I just wanted some input on what weight synthetic oil to use. I intend it just for street use. Thanks for any help.

Use 5w30 synthetic. That's perfect for what you're using it for.

5W30 is what you want.....regardless of the brand, or properties.

How was the install BTW? Got any pictures?

Yup. 5w-30 is going to be the general consensus of most. As for brands, stick to the well-known companies. I prefer Amsoil.

Fomoco98, any motor oil with a "0" in the first number is great for start up, as it has a 0 weight on start up. If you want, try looking into a 0w-30 synthetic oil. Amsoil makes a great motor oil that is race proven in a 0w-30 weight. Its rather expensive, but offers superior lubrication and protection. Well worth it if you can afford it. Remember, Amsoil full synthetic motor oils only need to be changed every 25k miles or once a year, which ever comes first. The Amsoil filter should be changed every 12k miles or 6 months for best results.

I have a friend that runs Mobil1 0w-40 and swears by it, with his built 4valve Cobra motor.
