4.6l out of a thunderbird in a stang?

Hey guys,
I'm stationed overseas in Germany and now have a spun bearing in my 01 gt.
Getting an engine over here is hard.

But now I found a 4.6l out of a 92-93ish (sometime in that range) out of a Thunderbird.
Would it be a good idea to swap it over to my supercharged 01?

I would swap over the heads etc.
I think the tbird 4.6 has a higher compression.

How long would it last with 350 rwhp?

Does everything swap over?
Blower belt also?

TBird's didn't get the 4.6L until 94. Personally I would pass on it if you have an 01, it would take a fair amount of work to put that in your car.

If the tbird is is the same as a 96-98 GT NPI the bump in compression wouldn't be too good for a blower application

If this motor is out of a 92-93 T-bird then it's either a 3.8 V-6 or a 5.0 V8 the 4.6 was the optional engine in the 1994 and up t-birds. BTW they were NPI.

If the block is still good order a new rotating assembly if money permits you. The non PI motor will be a huge loss of power too

The only 4.6L engines that came in the Thunderbird worth any serious consideration are the '96-'97 engines. These were essentially the same as the '96-'98 Mustang GT. The '94-'96 engines weren't as well put together as the later ones (pirated from the early Crown Vics and Lincoln Town Car) and would require a lot of mix and matching of parts in order to afix your '01 PI hardware to them.

This thread is getting a little bit side tracked...

All you want from the TBird is the shortblock minus the oil pan. You will need your oil pan from your engine to fit into your K-member of your mustang. You will need to swap your heads, intake, fuel rails or whatever the 99+ cars have for a fuel setup, headers/exhaust manifolds, engine front cover, etc. Using the TBird shortblock and your PI heads will pump up the compression ratio a full point which will yield more power than what your stock motor and setup made( your car and the TBird stock were roughly 9:1 - 9.4:1 compression, TBird shortblock/PI heads will yield around 10:1 - 10.4:1 compression ). With the ****ty stock pistons/rods of the factory 4.6, I wouldn't want to put a SC on that high of a compression ratio. With what I have just said now, you should be seeing why I recommended what I did.
