4.6L Stroker Kit Question

Does anyone have any experience with the 4.6L Stroker Rotating Assembly kit that is on sale at sean hyland motorsports for $2,295? What kind of work would be required to install this in an otherwise stock 4.6? What kind of horsepower gains would you see?

Here is a link for anyone who has never seen the kit before:

You would see around 21HP out of it, if you left EVERYTHING like compression the same as stock. If you put in 10.1-1 compression you would see even more.I was told by DSS that it is a general rule of thumb that for every CID gained, you gain 1HP.Hope that helps.BTW did you see those cobra short blocks? The 324CId costs $5695!!!!!Thats insane, there is NO way it is even close to being worth that, you can buy 331 and 347 stroker shortblocks for way less...how can they justify that?I dont even think the blocks included LOL.

I cant be your deciding factor, but Roush97 ( I believe is the sn) has had nothing but problems from SHM. After reading his stuff, and finding out how much his engine sucked, I wouldnt give them a penny. Look for a post called something like "Roush Update" or something like that. Go with another company if you really want a stroker kit. Are you supercharged? If not, Id have to do that first unless you just really want a big N/A engine. Its up to you, good luck.

i heard bad reviews about the quality of the SHM shortblocks also. If you have that kind of money to spend definatly go with a blower/turbo setup...and with the extra $$ you can even get one of those fox lake racing p-51 manifold kits (incredible gains witha power adder!)

Where can you find a blower/turbo setup for $2295? All the blowers seem to be well over $3000 and im sure turbos are way more expensive. If I forget the stroker and just go the forced induction route, I compromise reliablity because of the weak internals. If I do the stroker kit, I am beefing up the internals, getting more HP, and I can always throw in a shot of nitrous cheaply and safely. Or I can add forced induction later on. It seems this stroker kit is a good idea. What do you guys think?

I have a 302" stroker in my car. Take my advice and spend your money on something else.

3.57" bore (.020" over) + 3.75" crank = 302 cid

true too..doesn't make a big diff especially if u go KB route which has plenty of low end torque...that's what the 4.6 is missing...just get ur 4.6 some forged internals and save the stroker money for a good tune
