ok before you go hitting me with just do a 5 lug swap hear my logic.

5 lug swap about +/- 300.00 in junkyard hunting parts right? time for work/install
plus 5 lug wheels and tires craigslist 3 to 4 hundred to you got roughly 800.00 for all and thats everything used..

or just order 4 lug wheels ( i only like cobra r's and 03 cobras anyways) for about 5-600 w/out tires new. and and close 1k for everything new tires and all....or maybe 500 if i craigs i found some 4 lug cobra r but they were 16"

or lug adapters for 200.00 and craigs wheels for 3-400.00 everything for 600.00

should i just walk away now

adapters are a no no huh?

adapters =200

wheels/tires =400

wheels/tires flying off car =priceless

look up UnderPressureGT he tried this and argued against everyone that it would work. a month or two later he posted up some sad story how his wheels fell off.

I'm pretty sure his weren't adapters but merely wheel spacers that came off... The adapters I personally would watch out for. I would think you could piece together a set up off an SN95 over some time, and then when you have all the parts toss it on with some wheels and tires.

I will also state doing my 5-lug, with used parts, and rear discs I spent a LOT more than $300. Maybe doing drums out back you can, but axles alone for me were about $100, $150 for the front stuff, $150 for the rear stuff, not to mention MC, Booster, NRC brackets, prop valve etc.. etc... I say if you are going to do it, go with the disc stuff, figure on $600 or so to do the work, and do it over time.

Wow there are some high dollar junkyards out there! I'm gathering parts for a swap on my '89 & don't have near that much in parts so far:
-'97 spindles (they came with rotors & calipers but I won't be using them)- $45.
-2 ranger rear axles-$20
-Cobra front rotors & calipers-$100
-rear calipers & brackets from a '95 (you can swap the brackets side to side after some modification to work with the ranger axles)-$10

I know I still need a few more things but I can't see coming near $600 -$800 for the swap. Lol I'm a cheapo, I don't have that much in the Wilwoods on my '86.

And adapters are bad mmmkay?

I brought this up before and I got the same response.
I have yet to find anyone who have used the adapters (or will admit it).

So far I have spent:
on the rear:
125 - axles
70 - NEW drums
30 - NEW gear oil, gasket, etc

on the front:
75 - 2001 gt calipers
150 - spindles, hubs, NEW rotors
then you can count on 50-150 for NEW pads, brake lines if you need them, etc. It's not cheap but it is possible on a budget if you take the time to fins used stuff.

Underpressure was such a tool. I met him in seaside and he was the biggest guido I've ever seen. You gotta see his myspace, blowout, the bathroom pictures of himself with his shirt off, its hysterical! His car was a peice of crap too. As for wheels falling off, Im not going to say anything cause it happened to me too with 1/4 inch wheel spacers. Lesson learned lol.

+1 he had spacers not adapters.

The parts for a J/Y swap will vary per junk yard

85 bucks for front
100 bucks for rear axles, brand new drums, 2 tires

100 for 3.73 rear end.
30 for dif fulif and friction modifer and gasket
6 bucks in break fulid.
and sportlines...trade.

a little over 350 and mines swapped to 5 lug. add about 200 if you plan on going sn95 front brakes.
