I tried this question in a Probe forum a week ago and go no replies. You guys have helped with my stang in the past, so maybe I'll have some luck here.
I have an 89 Probe GL daily driver. Car runs smooth except... at exactly 4000 RPMs, the engine misfres, the tach drops to 0, and the car decelerates until I let off the gas or shift. I have replaced the following :
plugs,
wires,
distributor cap,
rotor,
fuel filter,
ignition coil.
I also reset the ECU thinking maybe the rev limiter got screwed up.
The car runs even better with the replacements, but the 4000RPM misfire is still exactly the same. It happens in all gears.
Any of you ford guys have any suggestions?
