4cyl, 6cyl, 8 cyl springs...

I know for a fact the 4cyl springs in a 5.0L fox puts the front exactly where I want it. Nice and low. All my 4cyl springs in the yard are pretty crusty and nasty.

Do you guys think 6cyl springs from 94-04 would lower my fox with the 32V motor in it similar to a 4cyl spring with a 5.0L in it? I've got plenty of 99-04 6cyl springs like brand new.

I would cut V8 springs, but I'm just trying to keep the guess work out of it. Once I get them in, I don't wanna take them back out.

Tire's I'll be running up front are either gonna be 275-40R17, or 255-45R18. I don't know what to buy yet.

Any input?

255/45/18 is a tall tire... you sure it's going to fit?

I'm clueless on the 6cyl springs, but my guess is they would sit the car higher.

No, I'm not sure they will fit. I have no idea. My Dad's GT500 has that exact size on his 18x9.5's up front and they don't look stretched, that's the only reason I want them. But...the fox is a smaller car so it's a toss up. I got a friend bringing me an 18x9 up here today, not sure on the tire. The suspension and motor will be in soon...so I'll know then. BTW...Brian...what sizxe were your tires again?

You really think the 6cyl springs will sit it up higher? I would think it'd be lower like the 4cyl springs.....hmm....

No idea about the 6cyl springs. My guess is to look at the spring rates between 4, 6 and 8 and that should give you an idea. Also see the differences between a 5.0 vs a 32v 4.6? Since you know how a car sits with 4cyl springs and a 5.0?

I know Brian and I are running the same tire sizes, both 9inch wide rim, and a 255/35 18 tire.

I think higher vs a 4cyl, lower than an 8. My guess is split the difference, but I really don't know?

Yeah like Justin said, 255/35/18s out front. Now granted the 255/35 tire is a bit short, but I think a 45 sidewall is just too much for a fox. Even a 40 sidewall would fill the wheel well up big time, IMO.

That makes total sense. Lower than a 8cyl, higher than a 4cyl. At first, I mis understood you. And that would be fine with me, since I'm thinking of 18's.

Yeah, thats only a guess and makes sense on paper, but I could see a V6 SN95 weighing what a V8 fox does... Any chance the springs might be similar in ride height to a stock V8 fox spring?

Once again I have NO idea factual info, just spouting off ideas that sound reasonable to me.

Yeah, me too, I'm just thinking of ideas too. All the springs are the same height and thickness outta the car. I'm gonna use used rubber isolators so the poly's won't raise it up even 1/8" or 1/4".

I mean I should just do what my tuner shop told me to do. V8 springs. And 94-04 cars get 1/4 coil cut off and look good. Fox bodies get 1/2 coil cut. Just not sure if a Cobra motor weighs more of less than a 5.0L motor.

I thought not, but hey...I figured...maybe, just maybe the HUGE heads and intake and valve covers might weight more than the tiny heads and valvce covers on the 5.0L. But the block is gonna be the deciding factory. Similar in size, but aluminunmumumumumumum vs. raw iron...

sn95 springs are around 3/4" higher than a fox spring, most all the sn95 springs are the same height..

i would say go with a 4 banger spring. 5.0 rear spring cut 1 coil off. should look nice and flat.. dont know about that tire fitting though..

Thanks for the advice and offer....I'm still deciding. I had some 4cl springs off and ready, but I sold them to a guy yesterdya building a hot rod. I"ve got more, but they have 1000000000 miles on them. I should just go with some clean stockers and cut them. Just not sure on V6, or V8 up front. I put some clean V6 ones out back for now (uncut). The car is a shell so of course it sits up super super high. I'll mess with cutting them after the car is assembled, just before paint time.

Hack Job was the same way. By the time the car got a motor and transmission and interior, it was actually too low with the Steeda Sport Springs, so I took the Mega bites and lifted them up to the bottom hole to raise the car 3/4" and I inserted a 1/4" spacer on each side. 1" raise sounds like a lot, but it was much need on that car. lol

4cyl, 6cyl, 8 cyl springs...
