I had a 4 cyl auto that i decided to convert over to a 5.0 aod. Everything is going great with it but I was reading some posts from awhile back and I was hearing something about the shifter from the 4cyl not working with the 5.0 aod. Any one have an info on this?... anything else I will need to change with the shifter such as the cable?? and does anyone know where I can find the 23 tooth white jeep gear for aod for the speedo? I haven't been able to locate it.

what year 4cyl is that, I tried to do the same swap a few years back, the shifter will be the last thing to worry about, that K member is the first, the motor will not even fit cause the 5.0 sits up way higher on the K member.

The K member for a 4 cylinder and for a 5.0 is the same. The only K member that is different is in the V6 foxes. I did the swap on a 1988 Mustang Hatchback and had no problems. You may need a new transmission crossmember if yours does not already have a double hump for the dual exhaust. Some four-cylinder mustangs already have the double hump, mine did.

I do believe the kmember's for both 4cyl and 5.0 are the same but the 4cyl was a 1989 lx and the donor car (where I got the motor/trans/kmember/gas tank/ rear) was a 1991 gt. And I already have the motor/trans and all inside the engine bay. It just a matter of hooking up all the messes of vacuum hoses and wiring. I thought i would try and figure out the whole shifter issue now as I start to finish up this project. As it seems it is different so I guess ill just end up going with a nice b&m hammer shifter then :) If its nice tomorrow my car will be back on its wheels for the first time in like 3 months. Can't wait to see it on the new 5 lug cobra r rims ;) thanks for answering my questions all though.
