I just replaced my leaking lower intake gasket on my 94 5.0. I let the car sit for a few weeks before I replaced the gasket and lots of coolant got in the cylinders. I pulled the plugs out and blew most of the coolant out. When I put the new gasket on and started the engine, all kinds of steam came out of the exhaust for at least 15 minutes and almost went away. I have not started the engine since I replaced the lower intake gasket. I will pull the plugs again to make sure there is no more coolant leaking into the cylinders.

My question is how long should it take to burn off any coolant that might have seeped into the exhaust. 15 minutes seemed like a long time.

Thanks a lot for the responces. It is amazing how much coolant could leak into the exhaust to steam for so long.
