I recently met someone who said he had a 96 gt with a built up 5.0 and c4. has anyone ever done this? im thinking compter, wiring harness, and motor mounts would need to be changed. my 5 spd should bolt up. any one have any suggestions? i have 130k miles on my engine, but the car is in beautiful shape. i was going to swap to 5.4 but i dont have the cash.

since its a non PI 4.6 your considering ditching in favor of a 5.0 its understandable, but still
Just get a PI motor from one of the sellers in the mags, you will be ahead of a 5.0 by 40hp or so

there is alot involved including changing the fuel system to a return style and swapping the computer and a few more things that are required and have been mentioned above, the cost on it gets pretty pricey none the less

it's more cost effective to swap to a 99+ pi motor. you will be faster than a stock 5.0 for a lot less. go watch a 94-95 5.0 run at the track then make up your mind.

some run fast enough.

i personally would swap in an aviator motor, or 4.6 aluminum explorer motor that can be had pretty cheap

people try to say the 5.0 is so much cheaper, well 300rwhp out of a stock e7, HO intake 5.0 isnt cheap. you are looking at 1,000 for heads, 200+ for a cam and 300-600 for an intake. take the same money and put cams, intake plenum and tb and a custom tune on a mod motor and you will be at 300rwhp with all of the supporting mods just like a 5.0

edit: you can put a pretty cheap motor like mine together, gt40 irons, gt 40 intake, RR's and you are there, but the max rwhp ill see without any port work or a cam is in the 260range(like a bolt on 2v)

jackie chan..

yeah there are pleanty of fast 94-95's out there. in fact they have a lot more stuff for them out there. but if he put a stock 5.0 in there he will see very little improvement.

i think it's a lot easier to drop in a 99+ motor and use the same electronics than to swap everything for a stock or close to stock 5.0..

i know there was a guy over at MD that swaped in a BUILT 5.0 platform motor. when it comes to built motors there is more options for less money for the 5.0

i can't believe i agree with you....

aviator swap is the crap. the jury is still out on whether i should have let them ship it (mach1/aviator) instead of this crate.
