I know a lot of people have bought these carpet kits from 5.0 Resto. I need to know if the carpet comes with the holes in the carpet for the center console and e-brake stuff or do you have to cut them out yourself. I deleted the center console and e-brake in my car, so i need to find a carpet kit that has no holes so i don't have a void where the console used to be. Thanks

I got the mass-back carpet from them and it did not have any pre-cut holes -- I had to cut all of them in mine. I was surprised, the quality was actually pretty good for being a resto part. Hope this helps!!

How do you like the mass back? Does it cut down on noise and heat? Do you have any interior pictures of how far the carpet goes under the dash? That would be very helpful. Thanks for the info.

No holes but the carpet is pre stamped for the seatbelt and seat track holes(not cut out but the mat is "dimpled") to show you where to cut..

Carpet will help with the noise but why not add some sound deadening stuff while the carpet is out? I used Second Skin supplies and have been pleased with the results.

Money is the main reason why i didn't want to put dynamat or skin stuff. That why i was going with the mass backing.

So mass-back carpet from ACC is the way to go?

I was thinking of also adding some sound deadener under it, but is it needed?

I would ask what are you wanting to accomplish. Mass-backed carpet will help with noise but it definitely won't make it luxury car silent. Depending on what you want would dictate whether or not you needed some deadener in there.

I understand that! If you want quiet then I don't think that mass backed carpet is the only thing you should do.

You can read up on deadener on Sound Deadener Showdown I read that and went with Second Skin Audio. Their site is having issues right now (someone hacked it) but you can do all kinds of reading on their forums.

You can also see my install log here.

I would have done things differently had I done it again but it was a learning process.

About how many square feet do you think are needed to do the interior of a Mustang?

I would prob want to do under the carpet as well as into the hatch area, up the b-pillars and the roof as well.

Are you going to try for 100% coverage? If so, then I would order around 80 square feet. Add 20 if you do the doors. The good thing about SSA is that you can usually sell your leftovers on the forums.

I'd also look into a barrier product when their site comes up. It is expensive but if I did it again I would have just covered with a peel 'n stick (damplifier pro) and then covered the floors with a barrier product (luxury liner). I also would put something (overkill or rattle pad) behind the hatch panels to help cut down rattles of the panels against the body.

On the forums there are a couple of mustangs that have been done (a new edge). Do a search and check it out. You can also join the forums over there and get some pretty good ideas on how to best spend you money.
