I have an 86 5.0 out of a Grand Marquise that I want to rebuild to throw in my LX. I plan on getting a rebuild kit from summit with the hyperutetic pistons. Can I reuse my stock rods?

Here is the link to the rebuild kit.....I need to get the block to a machine shop so they can measure it up and tell me if I should go .030 over or not.

You can re-use the stock rods. PIN diameter on those pistons is the same as stock. If those pistons weight substantially more or less, I would look into having it balanced.

Any idea on a cost of that? I can get a reground crank with matching bearings on eBay for $150 plus shipping. I'm not building a drag motor, but figure if I'm in here might as well do it once and make it last.

Balance job usually just depends. $200+ around here.

Drag Engine, Daily Driver is no different. An engine out of balance will destroy itself by eating main bearings. Can you get the piston weight of the pistons in the kit?
