5.0 swap into a 4 cylinder

i've been toyign with teh idea of either putting a 408 stroker in my jeep, or buying a 4 cylinder notchback or vert 'stang and swappign in a 302/348. how hard is it? i imagine id need the motor, mounts, tranny, driveshaft, rear axle, and wiring harness. anythign else? is it a particularly difficult swap? my stroker is going to end up costing me at LEAST 3 grand if i find the parts really cheap, but i woudl REALLY love to have a 'stang for the spring/summer on nice days, and keep it garaged all winter.

I agree....do a search.
Aside from that, imho, save yourself time, headaches, and most likely money, and pick urself up a parts car (i.e. a beaten factory 5.0) It sure as hell beats runnin around lookin for all the little crap.

sorry guys, i was exhausted and falling asleep when i posted. i'll do the search, but now im thinking itll be way easier to just buy a 5.0 LX vert, or MAYBE a GT vert. i'll see how everyting goes.....

OK, the swap in itself is not too hard, better to have a parts car for all the little things, way easier to make it carb while your at it, but EFI isn't to much harder.
This sounds like a good idea to me personally, cuz I have seen some friggin sweet LX 4 bangers in awesome shape just beggin for a V-8, it would also be a way to fianlly get the notch I have always wanted.

no way in hell woudl i go carb'd. i HATE carb's. EFI is so much better IMO. simpler. im rpolly jstu gonna go wtih a GT vert or soemthing along those lines

2.3T for something different, and you can still put the stroker in the Jeep.

i can't really say much, i'm getting ready to do the swap to FI with a 331...but for the past 10 years my Edelbrock has been good to me

I ment it is alot easier to go from a 4 cylinder to a V-8 carb than a EFI, becuase there is alot more to hook up.

i cant do a 2.3 turbo set up. im not a 4 cylinder guy, and i woudl kill myself before owning a 4 cylinder 'stang - its just not right! nothign less than 8 cylinders for me.

i cant afford to build up 2 motors. the 408 stroker i'd throw in my jeep would put me in high 12's NA, then with a vortech blower, id hafta get a new trans, then my rear woudl blow, then this, tehn that. i'd rather use that as my DD/tow rig, and keep getting the 13MPG instead of 8 with a blown 408.
