Bill Fisher got me thinking with his 5.4 3V project...Instead of replaceing my 4.6 this winter with a forged 4.6 or stroker, why not go for the 5.42V? My heads/cams/headers etc will all bolt up. And Reichard has adapter plates for the intake. http://reichardracing.com/46to54adapter.php

What else would i have to modify besides exhaust? All the accessories should bolt back up right?
Anyone ever consider this and do any leg work...

Or am I being retarded and should just order a VT Bigbore?

Those plates are for 4.6 DOHC to 5.4 DOHC conversions. ie...4.6 DOHC intake to the Navigator engine. They WILL NOT work on SOHC engines. However some people have been able to get the plates made. there are threads here and on modulardepot (I think).

I'd like to do this to my '98 GT too. It'll be in need of a fresh engine in about 1 year or so.

The swap has definitly been done.

I have 2 issues of 5.0 Mustang at home where they did this swap then tuned it.

HUGE torque increase in low rpms, about 90ft-lbs and 40 more hp at the wheels.

your headers need to be shortened 1" right at the flange. mmff has an article on the swap. i will get the issue. i think it has to do with the steering shaft.

Have to do some searching...............

Well my employer is blocking the 5.0 Mustang and SuperFords website for some reason (their new filters are SO friggin' sensitive it's ridiculous) or I could search for the issue number and year from their website.

But the name of the 2 articles I can remeber are "Size Matters" where they swapped the engine and "Size Still Matters" where they cammed and tuned it(at least I think they cammed it). I'll have to grab them at home and post the issue information.
