Might need more details on the swap. But all I can say is I hope that you have a donor vehicle to get all possible wireharness needed ECM, bolts, clips, nuts etc. A hoist will be helpful, and possibly a welder, grinder, etc.... I am swapping a 4.6L into a 81 notch. I am using the whole drivetrain and wire harness, so I am doing a lot of fabbing.

you can probably use your harness and computer. you will probably have to lengthen some wires and change some connectors and get a tune.

I thoght the big issue with 5.4 swap is that:

Intake don't fit
You get big torque increase, but not enough HP gains, but because most 5.4 is tuned for lowend power, you basically lowend torque monster that run out of grant as RPM increase

either way, be sure to document with plenty of pics!

well, this is just a little teaser thread. im doing the 5.4 swap on R3DN3CK's car. hes got RR adapter plates and an aluminum intake. forged rotating assembly, ported PI heads, comp cams, and a bunch of other goodies. were taking his PI 4.6 and putting it in my car and were using my NPI 4.6 as the donor for the 5.4. everything has gone smoothly so far. tomorrow i just have to install a few more things to get my car going. should have it done by tomorrow night. will post up some pics tomorrow night.

If you are staying N/A, pay attention to these previous posts.

Staying N/A, you are going backwards swapping a 5.4 2V in.

there are fellas tryin new thing with new pieces. they may succeed.

but the usual 290rwhp/340rwtq for full on ported/cammed/intaked/headered 5.4 is not real powerful. compared to 330rwhp/315rwtq at 6900 4.6 2v.

i am all for swapping to bigger motors if it works.

well your exactly right, you'd be making 330hp @6900rpm. your gonna have all of your power down low with a 5.4, thats the whole point.

Just had a friends dad from high school come into my work....He had a fox convertible with a 4V 5.4L!!!! Frickin packed in there....1/2" of room between the RH valve cover and the shock tower. He used the factory K frame and reinforced the front frame rails. He hand made the intake..(200 hours) and it is carburated. He also had electric cut outs of the exhaust. Stock manifolds, side pipes for cut outs and the stock tail pipes in the rear with Flowmasters!! Car sounded stock and when you cut it out....WOW!! LOUD!!! I didn't have time to go for a ride, but he said the torque is unreal.
