5 speed noise

Just got my new GT. Is it normal for this transmission to whine in 2nd and 3rd gear when accellerating? Kinda sounds like a blower..

Plus at 65 mph in 5th i get a whine.

Any input? thank you

Nobody has 5 speeds that can comment aleast yes or no.?

its normal to me it sounds like a race car transmission its normal enjoy it

I noticed immediately that the manual transmissions made noise. I've been used to front-drive, four-popping, euro cars before, so this was new to me.

I drove several Stangs with 5 speeds - they all sounded the same.

Actually, I kind of enjoy the noise.

With that said, none of us has actually heard the sound. You can always go by the dealer and drive a similar car, or have the shop forman give it a listen on a test drive...

You think the 05 GT is loud....... try the Tremec T-56 in an 03/04 Cobra with an aftermarket shifter LOL, you need stingers just to drown it out

Hey guys,thanks for the help.. it seems 2nd and 5th gear is worse for the whine.


Does anyone get a whine in 5th at around 60?

There is another thread about this...It sounds like a jet whine, but only when you float the throttle... Its the differential, take it to the dealer and have them check it out. It happened to me...annoying as hell

i dont really leave my car in second gear to much so couldnt say for sure . but most cars i have driven 5th gear has a little bit of a wine. 5th is a pretty tal gear puts less stress on your motor giving you better fuel milage . but suck if you try to use it for passing hope this helps

I'll find out in 12 hours when I pick it up tomorrow... I'd assume its just minor tweaking
