I have a 1969 mustang coupe,with a 302. I have a stock automatic transmission and I really want a stardard. How much would it cost to do a t-5 transmission swap. Is it safe to buy a used t-5 off ebay or classifieds or something. Or would I need to buy a new one.

the ebay/classifieds. It is said that to swap a C4 to a T5 costs 12-1500 green ones. If you rebuild a used transmission yourself, you might save a little more.

Cost? - $1000-$3000 depending on how well you shop, new or used parts, and what features you want. I did hydraulic linkage, and rebuilt a T5 myself, to come in at ~$1800...

Used trannys over the 'net are a roll of the dice. Bought mine from a seller with good feedback who SWORE it was in great shape. Whined like you wouldn't believe, needed $400 in parts just to be servicable. Got me close to the price of a new T5 from D & D...
