6 quarts is correct. I use Castroyl (sp) Syntec Blend 5w-20. Where did you have the service done? I use either Ford's Quick Lane or do it myself.

All 4.6 2V Mustangs take 6 qrts. I'd suspect the 4V cars take 6 as well.

Different years had different length dipsticks. The bottom end of the engine is the same across all years... oil pan size included. My '96 engine took 6 qts and read full with it's dipstick. Put 6 qts in the '02 and the '02 dipstick would read over full. Put the '96 dipstick in the '02 engine and it reads full. They both have the same dipstick tube. It comes down to this... Ford's goofy.

I put 6 quarts into my 03 and the dipstick reads half way between L----H. I leave it that way and I don't try to fill it all the way.

Wasn't there a TSB a few years back on oil levels and mis-marked dipsticks?

It's made in Texas, but I sell it in my store. Hit me up on PM if you're interested in some.

My '98 uses 6. Why don't you check your owner's manual to see what your car takes?
