6 speed tranny Q.

I have a Borg Warner 6 speed tranny sittin in my shop now and people say that it will bolt right up to a t-56 bell housing. Is this true and would the tranny work with the 5.0. It was out of a wrecked 1997 special order corvette-LT1 trans am with 50000 miles on it.

I seriously dout that it will bolt up to the t5 housing.

It can be made to fit without butchering the T56.

See http://www.mcleodind.com/cgi-bin/fc...c1=/catalog_htm/2003cat.htm&w3hostname=MCLEOD for the adapter to make it fit. Choose MODULAR BELLHOUSING - FORD 5.0L, 5.7L & ADAPTION PARTS for the bellhousing & adaprter parts.

will the splines even be the same, drive shaft length be an issue, and what clutch and pressure plate do i get, the ford one or the gm one. i just want to know if there is any way for this to work before i go ahead and sell my 460 motor to get money.

will the splines even be the same? No, 26 spline input (need a new clutch unless you have a TKO already installed) and 30 spline output

drive shaft length be an issue? Yes, you need a 30 spline driveshaft and it is shorter than stock

what clutch and pressure plate do i get? I would recommend the McLeod street twin set up. It comes with an aluminum flywheel, dual clutches and pressure plate - $750.00. That will be the last clutch setup you buy for a while. I'm making 560hp and 550lb-ft at the wheels.
