Hi, I bought my 65 coupe over a year ago and have been in the process of rebuilding it. It is an original 289, but at some point someone ripped everything out and put it back in, I have gone thru 3 batteries, replaced the starter, I decided to go thru the alternator now. I thought it was one with an internal voltage regulator, but it is not, its the original and the voltage regulator has been completely removed. I found the wiring for it and am goin to replace it, buy a new voltage regulator, but my question is which alternator do I get? I have two belts running in a v shape, I have power steering, but no ac. Do i have a single pulley or do i have a v belt set up or is there a difference?

No 65 289 had two belts on the alternator. The single will work just fine. The OEM 65 alternator was unique in one respect, it had no internal capacitor for radio noise supression. Ford alternators for the next 20+ years were physically interchangeable, however, and had an internal capacitor.
