i was planning on switching my drum brakes for disc brakes. Do i really need a power booster? Is a proportioning valve easy to install? Thanks for any opinions
do you need a power booster? that depends on the strength of your leg, and is your significant other going to drive the car? if the answer is weak and yes, then put a power booster on. if ont he other hand you are like me and dont notice when an F250 loses its power brakes, then you dont need a power booster.
I installed disc on the front of my '65, and did NOT use a power booster. I actually prefer the way it feels to power brakes. I bought the 13" Baer Track Kit from classic tube. It included everything I needed. The MC is the same as a '94-95 Cobra(GT also maybe?) unit, and utilizes an adjustable proportion valve. I really like the way they feel, and my wife has no trouble with it.
Easiest way is to disconnect and plug off rear hole in junction block install adj. prop valve on rear line, then run line from adj prop valve up to dual master.
thanks everyone for the suggestions. I still don't know how i will be able to adjust the proportioning valve. what will i need? set it to what pressure?
the instructions that came with my proportioning valve said to set it to about the middle setting, then adjust it until the back brakes lock up just after the fronts.
