I am installing a new rear GT valence for the rear exit exhaust. I bought the panel and the moldings but the bezels don't seem like they are correct or need a gasket between them and the panel. They just aren't going to be flush with the panel. Is there another piece or something I'm missing because so far tech support doesn't seem to be able to help. Any close up pics or help appreciated.
Here is a link to a picture that shows or describes a molding piece and this "exhaust port collar". This molding doesn't seem right, I'm sure it has nothing to do with the made in Taiwan sticker

Also,
the moldings aren't flat like the panel and the they also don't have the mounting studs threaded all the way down so you could get it flush with the panel. they stop about 1/8" short

I didn't have any problem changing my Valance, but then I had a original Ford Part. It does have a slight curve to it. The trim rings are stainless steel from the factory also I think the three nuts that hold each ring on are ss too. I re-used my original rings after cleaning them up.

Here is a pic - not too detailed

I had problems fitting other non-original parts, like the window moldings.

Maybe they are just bad repros?

I'm thinking it's just crappy repro's also but need to do something. The panel fit pretty good it's just the bezels don't fit the panel well, I can see the bezels are curved and the panel is essentially flat(horizontally). Maybe find another place to try if they are made by some one else and return these but I got these local and don't want to get stuck mail ordering crap. they have threaded studs and came with nyloc nuts.

Tim, there is no gasket or anything between the panel and the bezel, right? and the bezel sits flush all the way around.

The ones I have touch at the top and bottom and have about an 1/8" gap or more at 3 and 9 o'clock position, panel would bend all to hell if I got it flush, don't think the bezel will bend first. They are chrome plated cast pieces so they don't give much.

Nice car BTW

I lucked out and was given the new rear valance when I bought the car. It was still in the Ford packaging. :nice:

Not too sure where you'd find NOS rings today.

No, mine didn't have any gaskets.

Did you try to crank down the nuts or did you give up when it didn't look like it wasn't gonna go? An 1/8" probably wouldn't be that noticable.
