68 is pretty much a 67. I wouldn't worry about how rare they are, but how much you like them. Everyone has their own opinion as to which is the best body style. For fastback i like the 69's. In 67 I prefer the coupe. I am sure i will immediately get flamed for that statement but just what i like.

Here are some production numbers I found on the web:

Mustang Fastback production (approx., no Shelbys)

1965 = 77,000

1966 = 36,000

1967 = 71,000

1968 = 43,000

GZMINIZ...Nobody should flame you for your opinion, as long as you don't personally attack another member.

FASTTBACK...Are those combined numbers for standard and deluxe bodies?

ALL...My prefernce would be for the 67s, in 68 they screwed them up (IMHO) with side markers, 2-spoke steering wheels, fake woodgrain, and a dozen other aethetic atrocities. I really like the look/feel of the 65/66s but take issue with some of the mechanicals, almost all of which were "fixed for the 67 model year. So to summarize, 1967 was the perfect blend of early style with later mechanical refinements.

PSYCHOXXX...You just need to decide which one you like the most and build it no matter what anyone on the intardnet thinks.

Yes, those are rough numbers for standard, delux, bench seat, etc. I not sure if Shelbys were included in this number or not (they did originate at Ford first and later sent to the Shelby plant).

I own both a '66 and '67 fastback and do perfer the look and "fixes" on the '67 model (which I learned a lot about when working on the '66). Again, this is personal choice of course. I would take any 60's fastback for the right price.
