hey all
i am new here and am enjoying the site, figured i would get some opinions and pick some brains smarter than mine about my upcomin build. I have a 66 coupe and am lookin to do some modifications when i return home (i am currently a contract firefighter in Iraq) at the end of my year. I am looking to upgrade most everything under the car. goin with a 351W motor (modified of course) rack and pinion steering, 9" rear end and coilover front suspension (not a mustang II style though) I have a few questions about some products i am interested in using... The total control products coilover front suspension... anyone used it, likes, dislikes, things to watch for? also i am looking to go fuel injection on my motor as well a stroker kit to stretch it to a 427 (eventually). i would prefer something that is port injected but definately dont want 5.0 style injection and intake (never liked that look). or possibly some info on making my own intake, i have read about it being done but never find any info on how (i am good at building and designing stuff so its not that far out there in my mind). another question regards fuel tanks... i wanna upgrade to a fuel cell but i want to maintain my trunk space, does anyone make a fuel cell that can replace the original tank in its spot? or do i have to choose between them? any other pointers for my upcoming project are welcome too! the rack and pinion, opinions on it, likes dislikes, characteristics of the swaps and how they perform (i plan on remaining manual steering) any certain kits that are better than others? i want to refrain from cutting and welding onto the car as much as possible. there are probably easier and more cost effective mods that achieve the same results but i like to try things that push my abilities as a wrench turner and look cool too... any ideas are welcome! (oh i have a 65 that i am going to put back to original, cause i like a little of both worlds!)

I wish I could help but I haven't done any of those mods, although I too am thinking about some of them. Maybe you should try breaking this down into a number of bite sized posts instead of one large one with numerous questions? Just a thought

I'm guessing you'll beat me to it, I have a whole ton of bodywork to finish and then paint before I get to that stage. On the outside chance you move even slower than me I will let you know

There is quite a bit of suspension and steering info already here. If you have time just read through all the posts you can.

well i am stuck in Iraq till october at the earliest (may try another year so i can afford my big plans and a house haha) and then i have lots of body work myself and not so much in the area of experience but lots in the willingness to learn catagory! I have nothing but time to look through here and have been looking and piecing together a little here and there about some questions but the main ones like product opinions is what i am missing...

Well alright then, you may end up taking as long as me assuming you stay the extra year I do everything myself in my spare time which is limited so this will take a while. I'm very slowly making progress, kind of a bottomless pit of bodywork . Check out my cardomain site if you feel like it. I warn you it's painfully detailed but I figured someone wanting to embark on a restoration themselves may find it useful. Updates are slow to come since I'm slow doing the work

They do make a drop in fuel cell for the 66 but it is expensive.
Let me take the opportunity to also thank you for your service.
On the other stuff a search will turn up tons of info.
