I have a 66 mustang 289.c-4. i was checking drive shaft for wear. because i am getting vibration at 60-70 mph.

I noticed some slop in rear yoke about 1/8 movement back and forth. is this normal or should i try to tighten the nut to remove slop?

There should be zero movement of the yoke, fore and aft or side by side. You should not need to tighten the nut as it is normally torqued at well over a hundred lbs. You might have someone with experience in differentials check it out. Are you sure that the U bolts are not loose?
