Well I'm trying to decide what exhaust system to get for my 67' stang. I have setup to run dual exhaust now and I'm trying to decide between the stock GT exhaust with the resonators and the transverse muffler or a flowmaster kit. How does the stock GT exhaust sound? I've never heard it, is it aggresive kinda like flows? Any advice would be great. Thanks.

The transverse muffler would be rather restrictive, IMO. A true dual exhaust will give much better flow, wspecially if you use some sort of cross-pipe.

Well hello there said the spider to the fly and step into my parlor! I have a 67 that had a single exhaust when I purchased it, then went with longtube headders and a gt style setup. Most recently I upgraded to a 2.5 inch 40 series/2 chamber flowmaster setup. The 2.5 flowmasters are REALLY free flowing.....I was within 2 hp with my dumps open and closed (they are just behind the h pipe on my car). The flowmaster is definately a differnt sound. Much louder and that can get to the point of defining on long trips. The gt setup is pretty quiet if you ask me, but it also sounds good. It has rumble, but not nearly the rumble of flowmasters. You will probably spend more on the flowmaster setup too. The best I found for just one 40 series was like $85.

It will depend a lot on what you want to do with the car. I went 2.5 inch as I needed the flow and wanted the sound. But I also dont drive the car all the time, its a weekend warrior these days. I probably would have kept the gt setup if it was still my daily car and I didnt have as hot a motor in it.

Also realize, you can probably put a gt kit in yourself with some headache and skint knuckles. There are no complete flowmaster systems for 67-68 mustangs at this time..... so you will have to get it installed by a shop.

Ya, 40 series flowmasters cost $85 for the delta flow technology version but are $60 for no delta flow technology. I got both of those prices from www.summitracing.com

Delta flow is supposed to make interior resnance less...I have dual 40 series with delta flow and i honestly dont wanna know what the non-delta flows would sound like lol. Although this may have somethign to do with my exhaust dumping at the rear axle though.

The dual flowies sure sound good though.

U HAVE TI GRIND OFF A PORTION OF A BRACKET IN THE REAR OF CAR WHERE A HANGER GOES IN. AND U HAVE TO FISH THE PIPE FROM COLLECTOPR TO HEADERS . I JUST HEATED MY PIPES WITH A TORCH AND BENT THEM TO LINE UP THEN HAD A SHORT STRAIGHT PIECE FABBED TO MAKE UP THE LENGTH. THE FIT WAS PERFECT AND FIT OVER MY TCP SUB CONNECTORS ALSO . VERY NICE KIT AND REASONABLE COST. MAKES MY STOCK 302 SOUND BUILT .

I have 2 1/4" dual exhaust with an H-pipe into 2 turbo mufflers. Sounds healthy enough at idle and not very loud at cruising speed, but watch out when you floor it!

Oops, forgot to mention I also have full length headers.

I was told by flowmaster that it would not fit...oh well. Guess you proved different!

thanks for the tips guys...I'm still debating what to do. I just installed a nice stainless steel catback kit on my 98GT from Ford Racing and I like way that sounds maybe I can get a set of mufflers from Ford Racing and fab up my own exhaust. I mean I'm a welder fabricator I should be able to come up with something. Thanks for the advice.
