Thanks. Sealing or adhering to the plastic wasn’t the issue. I wanted to remove and replace the double sided tape with some 3M tape. The door moldings didn’t adhere well and are coming off the silver fox I painted (further back in the thread). Didn’t want to take that chance with mine.

The moldings weren’t painted yet but in primer. I used some heat to get the tape off, which worked pretty well. The issue was the moldings were nice and flexible and while handling them, they flexed too much and the primer cracked in multiple places. They’re back in primer and I hope to paint them soon.

I simply wire the sensor power to the FP circuit. This way it's not on unless the FP is. Alot of systems have an issue with leaving the heater circuit on for too long.

Havent done much the last few weeks. I’ve been driving when I can. Clutch is almost broken in, now up to 400 miles. Getting very close to scheduling a dyno session.

Finally got enough courage to install the door moldings. No issues. My worst nightmare was to have the paint crack when half the molding was already adhered to the door. Thank goodness that didn’t happen.

With that, the paint job is officially complete!

I realized I never took a picture of the Recaros installed. I can’t belive how well they match the stock grey interior. Still planning to have them reupholstered, but will push that to the back burner for awhile.

Probably 3 or 4 weeks away from the dyno. Need to do the dreaded timing chain/cam phaser job on the 5.4 Triton in the Expedition.

Yes, lots of fox body’s. Jeff, the tuner and co owner cut his teeth on Mod motors. They have a little bit of everything there. Chevy, ford, old school and modern.

Very cool place and even better people. The shop has exploded. The parking lot was full. 40 plus cars. All customer vehicles. They’ve probably doubled in size since my last visit 4 years ago. Almost a 2 month lead time just to schedule the tune.

That’s a trip back in time. I daily drove it back then. It only morphed into what it is now when it was promoted to toy status. Save for new wheels, this time it really is finished. There’s nothing left to do! Time to finally give the 67 some deserving attention.

Older cars are in style , and its probably going to stay that way. People from all over the world want older eight cylinder cars. We have quite a few resto mod shops here in Sarasota similar to yours. When I was pricing new top for my 90 the guy told me people ship their cars down here to be redone. Most shops were full, and the wait time was six months.

Before describing yesterday in detail, a quick run down of the setup.

03 - 04 Cobra engine. Whipple 2.3 with 3.25 upper and stock lower pulleys. Single blade throttle body. 60lb injectors, SCT 2600 MAF, dual walbro 255’s. Long tube headers, x pipe and magnaflow full case mufflers.

When I made these latest changes, I only had two goals in mind. Get rid of the stock, heat soaking, power robbing Eaton. And build an efficient medium boost setup (14-15 psi). I had no interest in boost levels that push the limits on pump gas. (17-18 psi)

Did a lot of research before hand. 03 - 04 Cobra dyno numbers are all over the map. The same setups can be 30 - 40 hp apart. Best I could tell, my set up would make 14 - 15 psi and put down 530 - 550 hp.

Boy was I in for a surprise. First pull was 542 hp and 467 tq! I asked Jeff how much timing on that run and he said 15 degrees!!! My jaw hit the floor! At my boost level, aggressive tuners can run 20 degrees of timing.

He let the car cool down and gave us some water and popsicles while we waited. It was hot!!! 93 - 95 and humid.

After some cool down time, the second and final pull was made.

575 hp and 497 tq!!! 18 degrees of timing.

I couldn’t believe it. Almost 600 hp at 14 - 15 psi. In fact, Jeff said it would probably make 600 on a colder day.

Now for the really interesting part. We started talking about the Eaton vs Whipple numbers. Very similar boost levels, about a 1 - 2 psi difference. It made 20 more tq and 115 more hp!!!
