Friendlier Driving
Several things I would suggest (By the way, tough crowd here)
1) Spend some time on the FE forum and get some feedback from guys that have pushed the mileage on their projects, you'll probably be surprised.
2) For friendlier driving, think about adding a hydraulic clutch , throwout bearing.
3) You can also add a gear vendors gear splitter, overdrive kit. That would be something that's exciting!
All of these things keep the car in a "pretty close to stock" configuration, make the car a lot friendlier to drive as well as more friendly at the pump and add a huge coolness factor.

Hi All,
I purchased a 69 Mach1 S code 390 with a four speed car and I want to replace the drive train for a 351W with an AOD, to make it friendlier for everyday city driving. I already know that I will need another transmission cross member, shifter to replace the four speed, and new pedals, but I’m not sure on the best place to find them. I also would like to know if I can use the mounting brackets for the alternator and power steering from the 390 on the 351. The 351 is out of an 84 bronco.
The reason that I’m replacing the engine is that I’m looking for something that I can drive everyday and not kill me at the pump. I’m also tired of having my toys stay in the garage and want to enjoy my 69 every day I can.
So, does anyone have experience on this conversion and what will be needed?
