as long there aren't any unseen rust issues i'd say 10 grand is a sweet deal for that car. i wouldn't do anything to the engine in the car but i wouldn't have a problem buying another 351w to build up and replace it with, the do a nice concours resto/detainling of the original engine and set it up as a display in your garage.

you could build a nice 427 windsor for it and make it look just as stock as the original one. looks like it already has an aluminum intake, if you're lucky it could be one of the original ford muscle parts intakes that was available over the counter from ford, same intake that was used on the 69/70 gt-350. it's a very good intake, especially considering when it was made. it's probably overshadowed a little by the stealth, performer RPM and such but for a fairly low rise intake it's hard to beat, especially if you have it a little bit with a die grinder. i like it because it helps keep a stock or vintage vibe to the car, it doesn't hive away any secrets if you know what i mean.

so a nice 427 windsor with that intake and ported to the max stock windsor exhaust manifolds would make one hell of a sleeper, of course even ported exhaust manifolds are going to hold a 427w back some but the stealth effect would be worth i think.

yeah that's a very common add on. then again if it does have the shelby intake lettered aluminum intake it's possible the engine was originally in a 69/70 gt-350. of course if has a ford lettered intake or is just plain with no lettering then it was an over the counter piece. i've got one of the OTC intakes myself. look for a casting number of C90X-9424-A, if it has that number it's the OTC ford piece, if it has an s4ms (maybe s5ms?) it's the shelby version, of course if it has the shelby lettering it's pretty good giveaway that it's the gt-350 intake.

even if the engine is from a 69/70 gt-350, though, it's really nothing special. just a regular old M-code 351-4v motor with a shelby intake and valve covers, nothing else was changed on them like on the earlier models.
