I bought a set of NOS trim to replace old ones that are installed in the side louvers on the rear quarters on my 69 coupe. The originals are swedged on. The new ones are with the pins that use the self threaded nuts. Wondered if anyone else has replaced these trim pieces. What is the best way to install the new pieces? Tom

self-threading or push-on nuts would be fine. Make sure that you have sufficient clearance on the back to get the assembly on without damaging the quarter. Clipping the tips should be the most you'd need to do.

Hi,
Thanx for your info. Another question, does the backing plate that the original trim is pinned to need to be reused? It looks that there won't be enough clearance for nuts it that is to be reused. Thanx,Tom

If you use something like this

it should clear.
