Not even a vert, come on now, that's pushing your luck in the worst way.

I'm a mustang guy, but for that price i'd opt for the new z06 or shelby cobra.

I'm guessing that the 6 speed swap is why they are really sticking it to you on the price.

It gets worse.
Here's the costs
$72,000 for the car
$2500 gas guzzler tax
$4300 tax

About $79,000 to take her home, that is nuts.

Ya,

I gotta say that is way more nuts then all of the guys who bought S351R's new back in the day. Some places you can get a C6 ZO6 out the door for less. I know because I can't help shopping.

Agreed.

When I was seriously considering trading my '89 for a brand-spankin' new S351 in 1997/98, I simply couldn't convince myself to spend almost $65K for a Mustang, when you took the base price of $56K plus sales tax, personal property tax (gotta love CA!), gas guzzler tax & the related dealer fees.

Now that same figure ($65K) will get you a 2006 S281SC convertible which I also really wanted but couldn't justify the cost.

The money we paid for our S281-SC was just about at the limit we could justify spending for a Mustang. In ’00, we felt the car was a good value regarding performance/dollar but things are different today. For upwards of $70,000 there are other cars I would take a more serious look at.
