My 71 Mach 1 originally had a 302 2 bbl. It was replaced with a 1977 351 W 4 bbl. I understand the original transmission will work with a 302 iron 351. I think I have a C4 when I look at my transmission pan, see attached pictures. My pan the corner that juts out is front driver side when laying on my back looking up. When you look up new C4 pans for sale the corner that juts out is on the opposite corner. See link below.
What am I not understanding?

2Blue2 :oes the shape or location of the jutted out position change? According to the diagram you sent the C5 is closer to what I have.
I have attached a diagram that I earlier received. It didn't have the C5 as you see it has C4 or C5. I have not been able to find a C5 new to look at..
What do you think

Trans is upside down? Isn't that passenger side?

I am getting myself mixed up. If you look at pic1.
If bell is front I slid under car from front on my back took pictures. Doesn't that make rounded corner jutting out on front driver side. I may be all turned around.

Ok, thank you that makes sense. I was turned around. Then based on that and how my pan compares to the 2 diagrams, Yours and the other. What transmission do you think I have?
