I recently took on the project of overhauling the interior to my 73 mustang fastback. Almost everything is done but now I have come to installing new speakers. I am not a fan of cutting holes in my new door panels so I opted for alternate route. I purchased some kick panels from Dallas Mustang that should allow me to install up to a 5 1/2" speaker and a small tweeter.
The panels showed up today. They look great and they fit almost perfectly in place. However, with a speaker installed the drivers side one interferes with the parking brake and on both driver and passenger side there is a bracket that connects to the dash that is also in the way.
I am ok making modifications to make these panels and speakers work but I was looking for some input from anyone that may have already ventured down this road. So, the problems I am look at are;
1. Parking brake is in the way. - Can I relocate it? Replace it with a different still of parking brake like a handle?
2. Dash brackets are in the way - Anybody modify these before or relocate them?
Any input would be greatly appreciated.
thanks
