Yeah when I first got my drivers permit my dad had a 94 GT and a 90 Corvette, I drove both but really loved the GT so once I got a good paying job I bought one and have not looked back since.

What I would look for would be a 96-98 Cobra. They can be had for $4000 if the leather and paint are shot but they are still good runners. In really good shape they are around 6 grand, thats what I paid for mine and sold it a year latter for a little more. Car was absolutly trouble free. Kicked down 299 rwhp and got me 25 mpg no problem. The Teksid engine is an unbelievable little engine, one of the strongest aluminum bloks ever made for a street car.
This is what 5-6 grand will get you:

Yeah, i miss the hell out of that car. But I love my current one more
Actually thats not true. I had a bond with that red one that just isnt there with the Termi. IDK, mabey im drunk
A Sonic Blue Termi was my dream car since 03 and now I have it and its even better then I was dreaming of. It can do everything better then the 96 .... except pass a gas station, buy I just havent bonded with it yet.... I know that sounded wrong and crazy but some of you know what im talking about
There might be some late night blast or mabey when I take it to a SCCA SOLO event and everything just comes together and I get the love for it like I had for that 96
