Got to look at a junkyard stash of 4eyes and 2nd gens behind a buddy's business that have been sitting 20+ years. Met owner today and he is motivated, just not sure how bad I want to stay married. Some day these spots will not exist so it was just fun to explore! Most are missing motors and other parts but are well below average as far as rust. A few t-top cars, one coupe, a 79 5.0 Indy car with rusty sunroof, a 77 cobra, a 71 fastback, complete 5.0 t-bird w/70k and a plethora of other skeletons. Enjoy!

Damn. that's a rare sight.

I've never seen a split sunroof like that. Very interesting on that Mustang II

Judging by the moss growing on the side, i'd hate to look at the undersides of those cars.

I'd take the Mark 8

All parts cars at this point.
None of those cars are valuable enough to spend 30 grand+ fixing.

Just looks to be a case of hoarding, since most of those cars don't appear to have major body damage.

Apparently my ex-husband made that mistake.

Agreed. There is nothing there worth the effort by far.

Kind of a shame. There are a lot of parts that were probably good at one time that are now total junk.

Whats the condition of the pace car nose? I can't see the bottom in the pics.

Yes, that's the one I was looking at. Had to search long and hard for a Focus that did not have a sunroof. It's just an eventual leak.

I’ve never had a problem with modern sunroof leaks. I’ve owned 6 cars with sunroofs and never had a leak. I purposely buy cars with them as I feel claustrophobic without one.

The cars have very little rust other than surface with no obvious frame damage in the normal spots. My earlier post regarding rust being "below average" was trying to say they were quite solid.
Sorry for the confusion.
Heading over there today to work out a deal with owner. Maybe you will see some on fleabay soon for cheap! Just thought they should be saved. I can remember when Shelby and Boss cars in similar condition from the 60s were passed over for junk (aging myself). People had the same argument back then as they do now regarding potential... you never know.

I have had 3 Mustangs with Sunroofs. Would willingly trade my Vert for another Fox with a Sunroof every day.

Last "Sunroof" Leak I have had was an 86 IROC with T Tops and the BASS from my system caused the leak as it thumped

If the money is there and it can be repaired, someone will be interested.

Owner would not part with any of them. Weird because old dude wanted to show them to me with the plan to get rid of everything. Felt like I was in a hoarders episode when Grandma is freaking out as they clean out her trash. At least I was able to talk a solid 1st gen 4runner out of him for 500 bucks.

Well thats a shame. I realize that most of those cars are beyond repair at this point, but it would be much better to see them go to someone willing to save what can be saved. Now they will just sit there and get worse.

Nice score on the first gen 4Runner. My grand dad bought one of those new. Sight unseen whit the truck literally on the boat headed to America. I loved that old truck. It didn't have back seats of any kind. Just a driver and passengers seat. Before he passed he sold it to a stranger to keep everybody from fighting over it and getting mad at the person that ended up with it. I get that, but I would have liked to have seen it stay in the family.

I’ve been in those yards in Omaha back in the 80’s when I used to live up there. Last time I remember, I was looking for some part for a 69 body Mustang. The JY owner was the same type of guy, had a 63 Tbird Roadster that the convertible top was stuck in “ mid-up”. The fiberglass Tonneau that would‘ve ordinarily covered the back seat was off, and on the ground. The owner’s grandkids were jumping on it because it was their version of a JY bouncy-trampoliney.

When I came around the corner and saw it, I gasped and asked how much he wanted for it.

“8000.00!“

I scoffed at the price because the top had been open and allowed the elements to destroy the white leather interior. “ I know what this car’s worth, and I ain’t giving nothing away.......You thought you were gonna steal it huh?”. “It’ll turn to rust before I’ll let anybody steal anything from me” ...

He was a stupid, stupid man.
