Ok, I'm doing a 3.73 gear swap in a 86 rear. I have pinion depth,.30 shim, and new koyo bearings. I had the new bearing pressed on at the machine shop. I slipped in the pinion into the housing. Slid the crush ring on, then new bearing, oil slinger, seal, then mount. The problem is I tightened the nut as far as I could with a standard 1/2 ratchet then switched to a breaker bar. At no time did the pinion have that wobble that you check for while tightening the nut. My understanding is it needs 200-400 ft lbs to crush the crush sleeve. Right now I have 25" torque on the pinion. I'm afraid I never actually crushed the crush sleeve. It never had that wobble you look for when trying to crush it. Any ideas?
