i just got a free 1986 5.0 lower intake and am wondering if it is worth porting or are the ports smaller than the 87-93 intake manifolds that i have on my GT right now??
cool thanks! i was just wondering if the ports were smaller cause if they are i would assume the wall thickness of the ports are thinner thereby limiting the amount i could port out due to the less total mass
so if they are the same than out comes the grinder and out comes the welder, and here comes my super-sik home ported magic intake...

cool, thanks guys!!! i know the HO intake sucks, but some people have had great success porting them so i like stock and smog legal so thats what i'm going to do, also its free

tmoss, your the lower intake porting yoda: are the 86 lowers the same as the 87-93??? they look identical to my untrained eye but maybe they are thinner or thicker in critical areas??
Yes, they are the same except for casting differences in the three suppliers I know of - the uppers differ a little with the 86 intake having slightly smaller runners in the upper intake.
