Sounds like either the neutral safety switch or the clutch switch isn't wired up. You can tap into the wire ( red with blue stripe...I think) from the ignition switch in the column to the solenoid. The neutral safety switch harness runs through the trans tunnel by the shifter.

That problem is solved. Thamls everyone for the help. THE PROBLEM WAS THE CLUTCH PEDAL SWITCH. I FORGOT TO PLUG THE RELAY JUMPER CONNECTOR BACK IN. Now on to the new problem . The dang turn signals will not work. Also the blower will not work. The passenger side flasher works though

Did you plug the fan control wiring harness into the HVAC control panel and into the blower speed control resistor pack that lives in the A/C duct?

I highly recommend that you spend some time viewing Mustang FAQ - Wiring & Engine Info . That's where most of the diagrams and information you need can be found.

Well i have power from the fuse box to the switch. I dont think i have power from the switch though.
I tapped in the wires for the turn signals and i got them to come on. So do you think its a switch? I also had the blower working for a moment when i was messing around woth the steering coloum

Sounds like theres a bad connection somewhere. How many power feeds are you getting at the multifunction switch ? Jrichker gave solid info and I believe the wipers and turn signals get separate power feeds to the switch. These cars are known for power feed issues because of the ignition switch harness.

PM me your email address and I will send you a complete Ford Factory 89 Mustang electrical diagram set. The zip file is 2.5 MB and is too big to fit through Stangnet's email gateway.

89 Mustang wiring diagrams zip package–

They are in a zip file format to reduce the size of the package. If you don't have Windows 7 or Windows 8, you’ll need WinZip or other Windows archive tool to extract them from the zip file.. See MajorGeeks.Com - MajorGeeks - Download Freeware and Shareware Computer Utilities for a free download.

The diagrams show the location area and the connectors are drawn to the same shape as those in the car.

You will need the Adobe Acrobat viewer which is also a free download – Adobe Acrobat Reader DC Install for all versions - Adobe Reader download - All versions

Please send me the complete Ford factory 89 Mustang electrical diagram set to tbrown3256@gmail.com. Thanks so much

I'd take a look at these three area's to start. Some of this wiring looks suspect at best.
1. Your starter to solenoid wire looks like it's hanging on for dear life. You might want to redo this connector. Possibly with a new starter to solenoid wire. Or a fusion slug (solder prepacked).

2. I'd redo, or buy a new coil repair plug. --> Repair Connector

3. This is part of the ground for the computer... It looks, well, i'm not really sure what it looks like. But I am sure it should be checked.

LUK!
