89 5.0 versus, cobra, 99, ls-1 lt-1 c-4

S.F. Cal,
Guys help got 217,000 miles never apart 89 5.0
i want better handling more power.
Need soon to decide to restore , rebuild upgrade
or to grab one of the aformentioned rides
Dudes any of you with any experience with any of those cars listed compared to this 5.0 of mine
Id like your input please
mines bone stock
Im also concerned with ease of maintenace as i do my own work or try to!
Are the cars better in handling power cornering ease of repair????
Ect???
Id like sugestions .
i feel my 5.0 is on its last leg even though it stil feels strong.
I will have to pass cali snmog in Dec.
if it fails ???????????
Worth all the upgrading restoring ect???
Or???????

The ls-1, lt-1, and c-4's will be faster, and much better handling, but are a bitch to work on. That is just about the only drawback to them, and is the reason I don't have one. How is the body on your car? Is it just mechanical issues that worry you? Or does the car need to be gone through completely?
 
High mileage motors are usually nothing to worry about as long as you dont beat the hell out of it. My old motor which had 214000 ran real strong and still does in my friends 91 GT. You could put a H/C/I and have a nice fast reliable fox body.

Id say even mechically good
even though it has 217,000 miles
still runs good
Im looking at either upgrading eventually with a rebuilt motor
I want to upgrade handling some
Heater cores out 2nd one.
Im thinking maybe just sell and buy a cobra or 99 gt maybe those ar easier to work on than the gm cars?

more than likely beings you have to practically drop the motor out of an lt/s1 motor to change the sparkplugs.

Heads cam intake on a 217,000 mile motor????????
What about passing smog im in Cali????

uh what? im assuming your asking if a 5.0 fox can run with a cobra.... It can with some money invested into it.
