It costed me $850 to do mine about 10 Years ago. Its around $1200 around here these days.

So $900 ain't too bad.

If ever one buys a vert with a bad top slap $1200 to the price tag to cover that.

Mine's in the shop now getting a new top section- I had the rear done about a year ago and that was $400. I know the guy for 20 years and he does quality work. $700 including the pads-. However, I've been quoted as high as $1400. That quote price you got is not bad

Is this just for the top portion?
New Pads?
Tacking strips?
cables
pump, motor, lines, ok?
Frame not tweaked?
Rear top section? - Get glass not plastic.
Vinyl or canvas top?
Make of top? You want EZ on or Robbins

You can do it yourself but it's a PITA job IMO. If you do go that route, get the video that's sold online.

just got a quote last week, top and all the stuff, 1050. told them i wanted the best quality vinyl out there, awesome shop does allot of custom high dollar work

so if their rep is good, 900 is very fair.

900 is for install only if i supply the top. 1800 for him to supply and install it. i can get a top for 700 but 900 dollars seems like alot of money for a few hours work

You can get a top for around $160 at Late Model Restoration.

Unless your top has other issues, you typically only need the top.

my guy quoted me around $500 for the canvas top but did not say the brand. $900 for labor alone is very steep. That is like 12 hours for a 6 hour job.

I just got an ez on top for 293$ shipped with a glass top. 400$ plus tax to install. 717$ total.. Would have been 1100$ if they bought the same exact top. That price includes pads

Is the shop going to warranty your top the same as if they bought it? I'd check on that. Normally it's only the labor , not defective materials if you supply it.

I did mine myself. It was not too difficult and I just followed the instructions on a CD I bought. It came out fantastic! If you have the time, and a good air stapler it can be done.

I found the installation cd on ebay. It was around $20. It did take me two days, and it was a learning experience for sure. The top I got from LMRS was marked where it needs to line up on the trim sticks so you get a good baseline install. From there it was a lot of adjusting to get wrinkles out. Even with the time it took I'm glad I did it. Saved a ton of $$ and I can say I have done everything on my car myself.
