I noticed that i can get a pair of reassembled or remand. Set of 351w gt40s from a ford lightning for around 500bucks usd. Which is 700cdn give or take a little.. I was wondering if its worth pickin up a set of 351 ford lightning gt40s and using them on my 1992 302 lx. I kno thr 351s have 1/2 bolt holes and u can get stepdown washers so they will work with 7/16bolts but is there any other reason why they wouldnt work? Im doing a head cam and intake swap and ive been wanting a set of trickflow 170s to use. But if i can get a set of remand 351 lightning heads for 700 vs the 2100 for the trickflows. Id rather much do that and spend the saved money elsewhere.. I kno if i got the gt40s ported and milled and stuff they would flow a good amount close to what the trickflows would of maybe even more..
Any help or info on this subject is greatly appreciated.. Plus a penny saved is a penny earned towards later upgrades haha

They should work with the right head bolts.
But $500 for gt40 iron heads is a premium.
A set of used twisted wedges shouldn't be much more than $800 and the difference is night and day.

The heads are the most important part of a combo, porting and milling on a $500 set of iron heads is kinda crazy.
That work alone on top of a $500 set of heads would eclipse the tw's.

Not sure how exchange rates to Canada work, but tw's aren't triple $500 in the US.

Me and used parts dont go well esspecially aluminum heads. Buyin used aluminum heads is a gamble at best. If they are warped then ur spending money gettin them milled. Plus a valve job and stuff. I was just thinkin that the remand gt40 heads are a decent deal because they have been checked over already.. 2100 for a new pair of tw heads isnt bad. But thats new prices.. Up in canada people treat their used heads like those are the only heads around. They want top bucks for used. Plus the ones for sale are usually 10 years old.. I duno the gt40s make good power and i was just thinkin that a good clean pair of old iron heads would work.. Save the hassel of overheating problems and what not. Cause we all kno how aluminum doesnt like overheating situations lol.
