I was thinking of taking a 93 cobra rear bumper and putting it on my lx coupe. I like that it is one piece so I'm thinking of buying it and trimming the bottom to look like an lx. What do you guys think?

Thats what I was wanting to do to my car. Just trimming the top off and mounting up the bottom. I think it would look good. I was wondering if it work or not.

I wished they would make one with the lx trim.

You can see the lines of the lx bumper on the bottom of it. It looks like it would just be an easy trim. I don't car I about the moldings it might be easier to just trim them.

Yeah, if you trimmed the top molding off, it could attach the same as a Saleen style rear valance.
It may take some time to prep it properly for a factory finish look, but it will definitley be original, and clean. I say do it, and be sure to take pics and document it, so some of us can copy you

I think the notch looks very badass with a complete '93 Cobra Kit . . . Your idea sounds like sort of a Saleen style look which is good too . . . definitely will have to be more resourceful and creative to pull it off . . . I hope it works out well for ya .

not a fan of the front end on that vert, but I love the rest. I wonder who the manufacturer is for that body kit. I believe that wings west is just a distributor.

I'm just looking to do this to get the one piece bumper and that's it. I'm going to trim the bottom to the lines of the lx, I'm not looking to do any ground effects. What is the big difference between a gt and lx molding because this 93 cobra bumper will fit but, have different moldings. Does one molding look better? I'm thinking about filling all the rectangle parts on the moldings. I wish the front bumper could be one piece like this. Also, wish the fenders had the corner extensions above the turn signals attached.

if you are filling in the molding then you shouldnt need to trim. I believe recessed portions on the moldings on the gt's was wider than on an LX and that is why it wont line up correctly. someone correct me if I am wrong.

You know I'm not totally shaving the molding just thinking about filling the whole rectangle trim part where if you had an ugly red pin stripe on your gt it would be located there. Also, do you think it would be possible to attach the front bumper to the lower fender moldings? Just so there isn't a body seam there. Is it possible to do like a plastic welding of some kind and fill to where it wouldn't crack?

Why?

The belt molding is different between the Cobra and LX. It has a wider tape stripe gap and won't match.

I have seen the entire bumper on an LX though. Doesn't look half bad as is

Yeah, if you're going to fill that gap then dont bother about which bumper you get, just get whatever you want (cheapest, quality, your decision), because thats about the only difference between the two. And I wouldn't worry about trimming the bottom of it, like 5L5 said, it may not line up, but it still looks really good.

Hey Mustang 5L5 do you have pictures of a 93 cobra rear bumper on an lx coupe or hatch back? I was also thinking that they might line up fine even without ground effects. I'm not looking to change the coupe to make it look super different just to clean up the lines a bit.
