hey guys got a lil problem with my powerlocks. heres the low down. doing a complete resto on my coupe. gutted the car down to the shell. im in the process of putting everything back together. got the whole interior back together but the engine still isnt in. i dont have the headlight wiring in or the engine harness in. everything that can run on power as of now does work. radio, dome light, tail lights, windshield wiper motor, power windows, trunk light, gauge lights, a/c blower motor. everything but the power locks. they worked fine when i striped the car down but now nothing. all the wires are hooked up. checked the fuses and those are fine. is it possible that the engine harness or headlight harness has to be in? and i did move my battery to the trunk. any ideas? any leads would be a great help. thanks so much.

The windows and locks should not be on those circuits, in fact, the windows and locks are on the same circuit. If you have power to the window switches then the locks should have power too, unless the switch is bad. Does the passenger side lock switch work? If you have a DMM, check for voltage at the lock solenoid, and work backwards. I would guess if your windows work, then the problem is between the switch and lock. Check the ground harness to the master switch. Hope this helps

thanks cjrpony. i already checked the wires for power with a dmm. and no power. you said to check the ground harness for the master switch. which ground harness for what master switch? if one of the actuators is bad could it short out the circuit and maybe cause both of the switches not to work?

I had one solenoid frozen on mine and it would not allow the other one to work. You can try to disconnect one and see if the other one works. One easy check is if you can lock the doors, mine was frozen so bad I could not lock the drivers door.

The master switch is the switch assembly in the driver side door. I meant to check the ground to that switch, I don't think there is a separate harness for the ground. However, if your windows work, I don't think you have a ground issue.
Here is a link to the schematic for the windows and locks. It shows the window/lock switches for 93 but not the lock wiring. I could not find a schematic for the lock switches.

I have a schematic in my 94-2004 repair manual and it may be simular to 93. It shows that power for both doors comes thru the passenger door switch and the grounds return thru the passenger switch back to the master switch and then to ground. I will keep looking for the proper schematic and I if come up with something, I will let you know.
