93 lx project trany probs.sooo lost.aod with tv valve set

i recently droped a 83 351 2bb carb in my wifes lx.it has a 1990 crown vic aod with the tv valve.ive adjusted it to were at wot the tv is almost at max travle.i put a presure gauge on it tonight and its pushing over 100 psi.at idle.i was haveing issues with no drive/overdrive.adjusted the tv and still no drive.parked it to not fry the trans.put the gauge on it to try to set the psi right and its pegged above 100.took the govaner out and cleaned it.fluid was clean not burnt or grity.im so lost as to what to do next.any help would be very appreciated.im an old school kinda guy used to c4 n c6 trans.motor runs great and been itchin to get it on the road for her.thanks for ur time.

ok just an update swaped out the gauge i had for a brandnew one from autozone still pegs it over 100psi at idle.im so stumped right now.even wit the tv cable unhooked its still at max psi lol.

well i just took it for a ride new gauge is stuck at 100psi even with the car off and the line unhooked.musta broke the gauge.still seems to start out in second.will downshift into first if u floor it or manually downshift it.but still no drive or o/d.aint drivein it nomore cause i dont wana cook the trans.was a fun ride cause here in ohio we got pounded with snow all day. and i live on a back road that dont get plowed but once a day lol.sideways at 30 hitting snowdrifts wit the back bumper.thats what lifes all about lol.anyways just trying to keep this uptodate for u guys as to what ive tryed and everything.like i said the tv cable is adjusted to were wot almost maxs the tv arm out on its axis.can bearly push up on it when its at wot.i may drop the trany pan next but when i drained the trans fluid was clean and free of gritt.not saying something might have been broke when i bought it.guy gurented it was a good trans out of a wrecked cop car.had the car in his yard all smashed in on the pass side.well anywho thnks to all whove takein a look at this.any help advice or sugestions welcome.

no im on the presure port on the driverside of the trans right above the shifter n tv linkages.got anouther gauge today otherone was toasted.i read on one the the man places i whent to get infor on seting up the tv that theres a port u can hook a 100psi gauge to and it will tell u the psi u need to run to set it right.im hopeing i didnt get a bad trany when i bought it.because quite a few posts ive read said car should shift with or without the tv cable hooked up.but unhooked will fry the trans.and either way mines starting out in second gear and kiccks down to firts when ur on the gas hard or when jamin the shifter down to low.im so confused as when the next step is.thanks for replying to y message. im surprised noone elce has replyed to this.lotta guys probly think what a dumb@##.

hey guys after alot of serching i found out im a dumba##.the tv test port is on the pass side of the trany wounder wtf i had it hooked to that was blowing gauges on the drivers side. a resesed 7/16 pipe plug.going out to hook it up right n see what happens. thanks for reading. hope i didnt cook the trans drove it less then 2 miles lol.

ok guys i fixed it and she is scary as heck in the snow lol.shifts nice at around 4200 rpm. and right about 33-35psi on the gauge.i got some fine tuneing to do with the engine and shift points befor shes golden. i got alot of helpfull info on this site TV Linkage Adjustment & Retrofit Page - Baumann Electronic Controls, LLC and here it is for anyone who would need it.



Retrofitting
For Retrofitting an AOD to a carbureted application we reccomend the following cable and bracket manufactured by Lokar (865-966-2269).
Cable: KD2AODHT
Bracket: SRK4000
If you are retrofitting to a fuel injected engine, factory Ford cable and levers should be used if possible.

Precautions
NOTHING can ruin an AOD transmission as quickly as improper TV settings. If you are unclear or uncomfortable with the procedure do not attempt this adjustment yourself. This information is meant to supplement, not replace, information that can be found in Ford service manuals for adjusting the TV pressure. Always follow general shop safety rules (never go under a car supported by a jack alone, always chock the wheels, etc.) when perfoming automotive work.

Without a Gauge
If you don't have a gauge, or you are looking for a roughly correct place to start, you can remove the cable from the throttle body lever, and adjust it so that the cable is neither slack, nor under tension when the cable is reinstalled on the throttle body lever. This will get you fairly close. We do not reccomend this for a final setting. You should always use a gauge to verify your TV setting.

With a Gauge
You will need to install your gauge into the TV test port on the transmission. The port is eight inch pipe thread, and is located on the passenger side of the transmission. Toward the back of the transmission, above the pan rail you will find two 7/16" headed pipe plugs side by side. One plug is level with the outer edge of the pan rail, and the other plug is recessed. The recessed plug is the TV test port. Since this port is recessed, you may not see it if you are looking straight up from under the transmission, you will have to try to see over the pan rail.

Remove the TV test plug and install the fitting for your gauge. Attach the line from your gauge to the fitting in the test port. With the engine running the gauge should read 0 to 5 pounds at idle. If you happen to have the special tool for testing TV pressure (installs on the ball end of the cable to pull it a measured amount), the reading on the gauge should be approximately 30 psi with the tool installed. If you don't have the special tool you can tape the gauge to the outside of your windshield with the numbers facing in and have an assistant ride with you to watch the gauge. Normal acceleration from a stop should produce around 30 psi. You also want to make sure that as soon as you start to apply throttle, the gauge reading begins to rise. This is a good indication that there is no slack in the cable. If you would like you can also check the WOT pressure with the gauge mounted this way, it should read around 85 psi.
