Does the motor come with GT-40 heads and cobra intake? You can add that to a 5.0 mustang and get the same effect. I have had both. Currently i own a cobra and the block is no different than a GT block/rotating assy. The heads and intake are different though. Injectors too. You would have to get a T4M0 computer if you were running the Cobra motor. It has a different fuel map in it.

yea i think what he said only other difference i really know of being significant is some people say one of the pully's is slightl underdriven not sure if any truth to that but also i know the cobra block has an oil cooler which equates to the smaller oil filter part # put on the 5.0 Snake

The oil cooler is there on the cobra motor in the Cobra, but not really necessary IMO. I'd rather it wasn't there because it blocks a bunch of stuff.

Actually, I would spend my money on a set of alum heads and an edebrock intake and bigger tb. Throw that on top of you 5.0 and get up to 100 extra HP. The Cobra motor is only rated at 245 where the 94-95 GT motor is rated at 210-215 HP.

It comes with the heads no Intake. I know the block is the same, but what would a set of GT 40 heads cost me?

A set of GT-40's can run between $300 and $500 depending on the condition/machining. Hard to find though. You will have to spend about $150 on 24# injectors and $200 for roller rockers.

the intake is going to cost you like 300-400 bucks, so i'd just use the money on some heads and intake instead of that motor...Or you could buy it and take the heads and injectors and sell the shortblock for like 300 bucks on ebay

This is true. One of the pulleys is underdriven. I just wish I knew which one. I think it is the crank pulley.

The oil cooler is in the way of a lot of stuff, but I can deffinatly say it works very well. Along with my Fan coming on at 184, my 180* T-stat, and clean coolant every year, this car never hits over 185. Not even in stop and go. My GT on the otherhand used to get up to the 205* mark with the same setup and a fluidyne rad. and no oil cooler.

Riiiiiiiggghhhht. The T4MO is the GT computer, the cobra computer is the J4J1 and its not the "fuel maps" that are different its the injector slopes, because the cobra has 24# injectors. But since there is no intake manifold he could just use his and hist stock 19# injectors and it would work fine. Buuuuttt unlesss ur stang has 200k on it i wouldjust use that cash to get some new H/I for now and then maybe a cam later. Ive got 118k on mine and it runs hard and still makes 300rwhp.

my bad, I forgot the T4M0 is the 5 speed GT computer. Sorry. You can use the T4M0 with 19# injectors and the J4J1 with 24# injectors. The stock TB is the same and I believe the stock maf is the same. I am acually using a 19# tube on my C&L 73 mm maf for my Cobra. The 24# tube ran like crap. There is many changes to get from GT specs to Cobra specs.
