Hey guys,
I've been looking around at getting another cobra and I cann't make up my mind. I had a 95 cobra, got rid of it to buy a house. I am back in the market to get another cobra and I would like to get your opinion. I know the 4.6 is loaded with more ponys but the after market is larger with the 5.0.

I would like to make around 450 rwhp and drive on the weekends. I would also like to do some road race, track days on the side.

Thanks.

well your running pretty close to it. Your set up sounds like something I would do if I had a 4.6.

My ideal colors will be a white car with black interior. I would consider an Atlantic blue or a Rio red. NO BLACK.

Come on guys any suggestions or just your personal opinions of which is better. I kinda figured this would be a one sided event. I thought you all would suggest the 4.6L. I was favoring the 5.0 just because of the aftermarket size.

I have the money to buy either and cann't make up my mind.

Id say the 5.0 because not only is there more aftermarket but the aftermarket is cheaper. But i've never had a 4.6 so im kinda one sided.

I'd say 4.6 simply because the 5.0 is such an old engine. Just an opinion, I like newer stuff.

4.6 then. The teksid aluminum block is stronger, just need to rebuild it w/ forged stuff to reach alot more then I'm pushing.

If 450rwhp range is your goal it will take heads, cam, and forced induction with the 5.0, 4.6 you could get close to it with a stock engine. Me personally I would rather have the 4.6 cobra. Put a blower and full exhaust on it the thing and call it a day. Great driveability with over 430rwhp.

After a little more consideration, I think I will try the 4.6L. Like you guys said with only a blower and other minor boltons I can be around 400 to 450 at the wheels. Thanks for your opinoins and suggestions.

I would go with the 4.6L Cobra. I have had a 91 GT, 92 GT, 94 GT and -3- 95 GT's all with 5.0L's. I had a 00 GT too and that was faster than all of them, and I now have 2 4.6L Cobras, one of which is S/C. The 4.6L is so much more responsive than the 5.0L. I would buy the 4.6L and supercharge it. If you can afford it do it, dont waste your time with bolt-on garbage that is going to add minimal HP. Stock for Stock the s/c 4.6L vs. a s/c 5.0L....the 4.6L will win everytime. The difference between my 96 and 97 Cobra is night and day, and my 97 Cobra isn't far behind supercharged 5.0L at the track.

Why would your 97 cobra be that much faster than your 96?

Other way around. The 96 is faster than the 97 because the 96 is blown.
