94 gt help! runs for a min and then dies after intake swap

ok i have checked everything. i think i have figured it out. i was talking to one of the techs at work today picking his brain. tols him about everything.(im a painter) i spent some time with the car last night and notice that after it ran a few minutes when reved up black smoke came out of the tail pipes. the techs at work agreed that the coolant temp sensor was going bad so i bought one and headed home. when i got home i found that the wires going into the sensor plug were bare and touching each other. so i will be getting a new connectore and wiring harness tomorrow . to me it makes sense that this caused all the problem because if the sensor is bad it shows the computer that the car is -30 degrees hence dumping fuel into the motor trying to warm it up and when already warm driving down the road it wont run. and who knows how muh they would touch partially causing the computer to change everything and back confusing the heck out of everything. the fuel pressure seems to be fine now will be putting the adjustable back on tomorrow. and the pump is a walbro pump and the regulator came from brenspeed since there less then thrity min from my house. this is all in theroy but i hope its right. i will fix the wiring tomorrow and let you all know what i find.

Like when in the last 20 odd posts did you mention a rich running condition (black smoke from the tail pipes). How does the ECT sensor relate to your telling us that the fuel pressure falls to zero? I'm confused.

And the ect was the idea of a tech at work. Fixed connecter and drove fine on the initial test drive second drive quit half way through sat for ten min and a few minutes cranked a bunch and it went back to being fine like it never happened

ok well i guess ill through a new distibuter in it. and if i remeber right the distibuter in the 93 is different so i cant put the spare i have for the 93 in just to check. the coolant sensor made sense and was cheap with my discount from work at the local napa and the connector had to be fixed either way since the wires were bare so no harm there i guess. should i just get a stock replacement distibuter from napa or shouldi upgrade while were having to replace it?
