95 5.0 Stalling Out When Coming To A Stop, Any Advice?

You guys with idle/stall problems could save a lot of time chasing your tails if you would go through the Surging Idle Checklist. Over 50 different people contributed information to it. The first two posts have all the fixes, and steps through the how to find and fix your idle problems without spending a lot of time and money. I continue to update it as more people post fixes or ask questions. You can post questions to that sticky and have your name and idle problem recognized. The guys with original problems and fixes get their posts added to the main fix.

It's free, I don't get anything for the use of it except knowing I helped a fellow Mustang enthusiast with his car. At last check, it had more than 134,000 hits, which indicates it does help fix idle problems quickly and inexpensively.

Check the vacuum line going to the charcoal canister. I chased a surge for years before I found the vacuum line going to the solenoid was crumbling. Took care of that and my stall and surge issues were gone. The checklist is also a great place to look as well. If you've never replaced that line though I almost guarantee it's shot and causing a vacuum leak.

Anyway, I have a 1995 5.0, when I start it it will hunt for idle for about 30 seconds, then even out. Sometimes when I am shifting out of park into Drive or reverse (auto trans) it will stall/die out. The same thing will happen when I am coming up to a light or stop sign. If it doesn't die out, the rpm's will drop to almost 500. I'm thinking it's either the IAC, TPS, or possibly UD pulleys on the system?

I also have a 95 GT and have spent many an hour "chasing my tail" with the same (or nearly the same) symptoms. I Recommend checking to see if the Torque Convertor Clutch is disengaging. Mine doesn't sometimes and I can't figure why. But I'd try to check that too.
