95 Cobra Clutch recomedations please!

I was takin someone for a ride in my car, 1st to 2nd gear shift was fine, went to third and just didn't go in at all, Clutch totally stopped engaging, my friend was able to get it in gear a lil bit once i towed it to his shop. Im hoping thats all thats damaged. I remember reading somewhere that some people were having problems with certain types of clutches. My friend might try and do this quickly for me so it doesn't incovience me so much so he might just get me a King cobra clutch or Ford heavy duty one since its more readily avaible to him. I know centerforce makes a good one. Just wanna know what others recommend and have had problems with so i can make a quick decission. Just want it to be able to handle some decent power and abuse basically,heh hopefully not too harsh for a daily driver.

centerforce works well with a lite clutch feel, the spec clutches have a very heavy clutch for what they are (in my opinion), however I still really like the clamping force of them. So far everyone on here has said they like the ram clutch, personally I dont care for them, they feel like a stockie to me. I now have a custom built clutch flywheel and pressure plate, if I were going to do my clutch over again it would be a centerforce dual friction or a mcleod. Both personal preferences. And I also like the aluminum flywheel car deffinately gets the RPM's up fast.

What's your budget? Centerforce and Mccloud are very pricy I think they run for $350+. They work well but how much are you willing to spend is the real question.

i heard from a few people on here that the centerforces grab too hard for a stock tranny, like it'd damage it over time, is that true? sorry to highjack, but i'm lookin into gettin an aftermarket once my autozone clutch bites the dust

I had a RAM clutch in my car - never again will I.

My King Cobra has bitten everything I've thrown at it. I have no complains.

SPEC clutches are very nice, too.

I ran the King Cobra clutch and it was a pos...then switched to a nice Hays Dual Friction. Next up's a Spec Stage 3 Hybred.

Well who actually makes the king cobra clutch, I always thought ford did until i saw this Ram one on brothers website

Good question. I don't have the answer either. I bought mine through Ford and it came in a plain box.

The FRPP king cobra clutch kit is made by valeo and Ford. The PP was a Valeo and the clutch and TB were ford staped. I just put one in two weeks ago. I think it is a nice soft clutch but it may not be the best if you are looking for drag launching. Just depends on how much you want to spend. A centerforce will only last 10 - 15 K miles where as the FRPP clutch should last 40-50 K under normal conditions. Remember that the centerforce is REALLY made for racing but many people use it on the street. IN my opinion, I would not buy a Centerforce dual friction setup unless you go to the track and like to change clutches.

My King Cobra grabbed hard enough to grenade my rear on the first pass at the track. Comparing clutches is like comparing mechanics (I.E. mine is better than yours), however if I had to compare the two, I would say that the "biting" force of the King Cobra is the same as a SPEC II.

what do u mean by grenaded your rear? that was the end of your rear end

At the track I brought the revs up and dumped the clutch. The tires hit and as a result tore up the rear end.

Some will argue that the King Cobra won't bite as hard as Brand-X's clutch - I wouldn't fall too far into that. It bit almost 400 ft/lbs of torque (hard) and held.
