95 GT cranking but not starting

Guys I just went out there and turned the key heard the pump prime and nothing. The car wants to turn over so I turned the key off did the schrader valve check and got fuel from it.

Does that mean that the fuel pump is operatating and where do you recommend to further investigate?

First of all, why don't you check for spark. You're getting fuel as you figured out already, so next up is to check for spark.

There's two ways to do it. First, you can take a plug out and hold it against a grounded part of the motor or chassis and have someone crank the motor over and see if the plug sparks.

Or, you can go get some starting fluid and spray some into your throttle body and try to start the car. If it fires up for a breif second, you have spark. If you get NOTHING, then you have ZERO spark. This does sound like a distributor problem and if yours hasn't been replaced before, I'd do it anyway. Make sure you ask for a BRAND NEW unit and not a rebuilt one.

I'm going to check for spark first thing in the morning. Chanks for the quick methods. The distribiter is the original and it will be alot easier to replace than the fuel pump. Thanks again for helping out.

Well it seems odd but yesterday it finally got above 30 degrees for a little and I decided to try and start it. It fired right up and I took it for about a 8 mile drive just to warm it up. This morning it is a little warmer and the car wont turn over. So I checked for spark and it isn't getting any. Tried swaping out the coil and nothing.

Should I go and purchase a new distributor? I looked and seen one at Autozone and it runs about $90.00. If anyone has done this parts change do you remember if it is just a swap or will I need to pull anything off the old distributor and transfer over to the new one?

Don't buy a reman'd dizzy. A lot of people have problems with them right from the start. Opt for a brand new one!
