Anyone do a 351w and c4 swap. I put the motor in the car last weekend and trans isn't lining up with the cross member. I'm hoping that I just dont have the motor mounts facing the correct way. Should I be able to reuse my stock cross memeber, or find a new one? The drive shaft has alot of play in it also, so hopefully the mounts are just on the motor wrong. I have the enery supsension motor and trans mount combo.

I'm pretty sure the 3speed C4 is shorter than the AODE. I wouldn't really expect it to line up. I know that isn't much help...

All you got to do is cut the weld on each side of the cross-member where the rubber bushing goes through & that way you can move the member back and forth & the c4 will work with no problem

C4 swap.

I swapped the motor mounts, and that didn't help. I see what youre saying about moving the crossmember up, but I think the whole engine and tranny needs to be moved back about 3 or 4", any other suggestions?

Sorry'i thought you were talking about a foxbody....I just made a plate and bolted it to the trans on my 96 & then used the stock trans mount and marked some holes and mounted the mount on that end...I will fine a pic and show you...Thats the easiest way i found....You can use the org flat bracket that comes on the trans to make the markings to drill the holes...

I get what youre saying about making a plate to bolt up to the tranny. I have a mig at home, but never used it, and I'm a lil nervous to do this project myself. Can you post up a pic of the plate that you used?

I have an extra plate you can have to go by...All you got to do is lay this plate down on another sheet of metal and mark the holes...I had to cut a small piece of round metal out of this one to use on another project...You can have it if you want it to go by...Or you could weld another piece of metal back in and use it..Its a new sheet

Did you possibly put the motor mounts on the wrong side right to left? That is all I can think of that might shift the motor that far forward. Do you have an aftermarket k-member with two different slots where you can move the mounts back?
